The second SPEED online webinar took place on Wednesday 31 October. Eight people from four partner institutions joined the session. Lawrie presented Derby’s plan for doing the take-up pilots.
Lawrie’s team is developing a workshop called ‘OER CPD’ as part of the university’s CPD programme. The aim of the workshop is to inform and support academics in the creation of new courses, modules, or content by using a generic resusable OER resource pack. The OER resource pack is developed by reusing SPEED resources.
The storyboard below created by Lawrie’s team shows that the OER CPD workshop is planned out with 11 sessions (purple notes). The main topic for each session is represented in the red note, and the activity planned for each session is in green. The storyboard also shows how SPEED e-tivities are embedded in each OER CPD session. For example, in OER CPD session 5, participants will be introduced to a number of SPEED e-tivities related to Course Design.
The target audience of the OER CPD workshop will be all academic staff (full-time, part-time, on-campus, online) within the University of Derby, Buxton College and Leek College, especially support staff who are responsible for creating, managing and delivering CPD programmes, activities and workshops.
Duration and format of the workshop will be flexible. The aim is to provide small workshops tailored for individual needs. It is recommended that each workshop will consist of a minimum 3-hour face-to-face session introducing the participants to the OER resource pack, plus minimum 2 hours’ face-to-face support to review progress (yellow notes on the storyboard). Additional synchronous/asynchronous support will be provided to the participants using collaborative systems.
